September 8-9, the World Series tournament Badang Ethnosport Challenge 2018 Malaysia took place in Kuala Kangsar, State Perak.
In the competitions of the Badang Ethnosport Challenge took part more than 100 participants of Badang Traditional Games from 26 countries. The event was watched by over 5 000 spectators.
The Perak Youth Association gave 135 volunteers from the Petronas University of Technology and the Sungai Siput Community College.
Badang Ethnosport Challenge visited officials from Malaysia Government and Perak State: Tan Kar Hing, State of ExCo for Tourism, Arts and Culture; Mohd Hizaz Ibrahim, State Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture of Malaysia; Roslan Abdullah, State Director of Tourism in Perak State; Dato Shahrom Abdul Malik, Head City Council of Kuala Kangsar.
The World Ethnosport was represented by Dr. Alexey Kylasov (Russia), President; Vladislav Redkin (Latvia), Vice-president; Dr. Bartosz Prabucki (Poland), Counil member; Gintautas Vileita (Lithuania), Counil member and President of the UWW World Belt-wrestling Committee.
The main and strategic figure of the World Ethnosport was Council Member Hisham Yusof (Malaysia) – CEO of the Organizing Committee of Badang Ethnosport Challenge 2018 Malaysia.
Official MC of event was Maris Sveiduks (Latvia) – Vice-president of the Latvian Ethnosport and Strongmen Union.
The Chairman of the Badang Ethnosport Challenge 2018 Malaysia was Tuan Haji Meor Samsuddin, Prsident of the Kampungstay and Homestay Labu Kubong.
The winner of Badang Ethnosport Challenge was Jeremy Hogg from Australia, who won two out of four exercises — stump throwing and farmer’s walk. In addition, Jeremy Hogg set a world record in stump throwing 20 kg — 8.8 meters.
Tabriz Nurutdinov from Indonesia won of giant log 140 kg lift and carry.
Muhammad Azhar from Brunei won in the final medley exercise of overturn of two logs and barrel lift and carry.
In the traditional games of Badang, the following competitions presented:
pencak silat martial art,
tarik upih — transportation of wives on palm branches,
bendang — ball game on rice paddy in mud,
batu seremban – dice game,
terompah gergasi – group ski.
