Traditional games

Traditional games are held in the framework of a people festives and rituals. The modern form of traditional games is a festival. Competitions of traditional games are of two types: 

without identifying the winner - the game for pleasure or playing;
with the identification of the winner, but without taking into time scoring in full accordance with the old times - ethnosport.

Traditional games always have the core of the main competitions - the Laamba wrestling in Senegal, the fistfight at the Atmanov kulachki in Russia, the strongman competition at the Highland Games in Scotland, three games of men (wrestling, archery and horse racing) at the Nadom festival in Mongolia, etc.

On the eve of our Yuriev Day, “Ethnosport" journal writes about the Drakoktonia (Δρακοκτονίας – Kill the Dragon), which took place in Greece on St. George’s Day. The journal also informs about this custom as it is celebrate in Emmanouel Pappas village, a suburb of Sérres, a city in Central Macedonia, Greece.

It is the third time in a row this year, that the Traditional Games and Ethnosport Federation of Russia hosted Russian games in the Moscow Izmailovsky Park, with the support of Moscow City Department of Physical Culture and Sport. This time the Slavic games on Red Hill Holiday hosted on the Orthodox Low Sunday.
