At the invitation of Ban Ki-moon, former UN Secretary General, Dr. Alexey Kylasov, President of the World Ethnosport, took part in the Convention of the World Martial Arts Mastership Committee.
The convention was held at the IBK Chungju Human Resources Development Center (South Korea), the birthplace of Ban Ki-moon, former UN Secretary General, who took part in all events of the convention: the WMC General Meeting, the World Martial Arts Leaders Forum and the WMC International Academic Conference.
Ban Ki-moon and Alexey Kylasov held an exchange of views on the prospects for the development of ethnosport as an innovative concept for the preservation of traditional sports and games.
Alexey Kylasov made a presentation at the WMC International Academic Conference of Martial Arts Researchers on the “Habitus of Martial Arts in Russia”. In his speech presented the results of studies on the perception of sportificated martial arts of their and other for the peoples of Russia, noting the growing role of cultural exchange and the danger of cultural conflicts.
It is important to note that the speech of Kylasov took place in the presence of the Hyun-Byun Lee, Chairperson of the UNESCO Executive Board.
Based on the results of Alexey Kylasov’s participation, an agreement was reached on concluding a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Centre of Martial Arts for Youth Development and Engagement under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO ICM) and a date for its signing in Moscow was set.
During the Convention of the World Martial Arts Mastership Committee, Dr. Alexey Kylasov held many consultative meetings with the leaders of international sports organizations and martial arts federations, including Si-Jong Lee, WMC President and Jae Keun Choi, WMC Secretary-General; Myoung-Shin Kim, Head of the Science and Youth Department of the National Commission for UNESCO of Korea; Vasily Shestakov, President of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS); Panagiotis Theodoropoulos, President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation (JJIF); Julie Gabriel, President of the International Federation Savate (FISav); Rodica Maria Yaksi, President of the United World Wrestling Committee of Associated Styles (UWW); Julia Govinden, Director of the Alliance of Independent recognised Members of Sport (AIMS), and others.
