International Festival of Bashkir Horses «Bashkort Aty»

On the Lake Grafskoye in the Baimaksky District of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the second International Festival of Bashkir Horses «Bashkort Aty» was held, in the program of which traditional ethnosport games were held, which were officially visited Dr. Alexey Kylasov, President of the World Ethnosport Society.

The central event of the official part of the festival was the presentation of a certificate of registration of the new regional brand «Bashkir Horse», which was personally brought by the head of Rospatent Yuri Zubov and betrayed to the head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov.

The official part of the festival was attended by the first persons of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan; Lilia Gumerova, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture; Rashed Almansouri, First Secretary of the UAE Embassy Mohamed; representatives of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society – Dr. Abdeleahab Amira and Eida Almenhali; Yashar Guluzade, Vice President of the Association of the Karabakh Horses of Azerbaijan; Alexander Zaitsev, Director of the Institute of Horse Breeding; Ruslan Gizatullin, Director of the Research Institute for the Study of Horses of the Bashkir Breed; Ainur Ishmukhametov, Director of the Irandyk Foundation; Dr. Anastasia Semenova, Deputy Director for Research of the Federal Scientific Center for Food Systems named after. V.M. Gorbatov RAS; Dr. Yerol Ulusoy, Professor of Istanbul University, as well as representatives of the Bashkir diasporas from the regions of Russia.

The core of the games was a tournament with horses of the Bashkir breed: 8 types of races and 4 types of equestrian competitions – horse wrestling auzarysh, game ylak (goat-pulling), archers of Irandyk, tai tulak (dressage) and dzhigitovka (a skillful and brave equestrian), which was demonstrated by riders of the equestrian club named after General Baklanov from Volgograd areas.

Archery competitions were held according to the rules of traditional shooting of different Eurasian peoples: there were riding and hiking routes – Bashkir, Hungarian, Kazakh, Korean and Turkish.

In addition to equestrian competitions, traditional Beige games were also held, consisting of batyr (ethnosport strongman) tournaments, koresh wrestling and tayak tartyu (stick pulling).

The head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, allocated a prize fund of 10 million rubles. The main prizes were in equestrian competitions. The head of the republic handed over cars to the winners of the 12 km race – the team of Baimaksky district and the 16 km race – the team of the Orenburg region. A team from the Kustanai region of Kazakhstan received 1 million rubles for the victory in the game.

Radiy Khabirov presented a memorable gift to Dr. Alexey Kylasov, President of the World Ethnosport Society, who made a presentation at the official part of the festival.

Next year, the competitions will be held under the aegis of the World Ethnosport Society, and the performance of strongmen (ethnosport-strongman) is planned as a joint project with the world-famous Bashkir strongman Elbrus Nigmatullin.

In total, more than 1,000 horses and 300 riders from 30 districts of Bashkortostan, as well as over 200 participants in the competition, took part in the festival. But there were even more other categories of participants representatives of horse breeding farms, craftsmen, scientists and farmers from 8 countries – Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the United Arab Emirates, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and 18 regions of Russia – Abkhazia, Altai, Chechnya, Crimea, Dagestan, Mari-El, Moscow, Tatarstan, Tyva, Yakutia, Perm and Stavropol Territories, and Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, Orenburg, Ryazan, Ulyanovsk and Volgograd regions. Over two days, the festival was attended by 20,000 spectators.
